Week of Respect
Staton Students and Parents/Guardians,
The week of Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 will be Nevada’s annual Week of Respect as declared by Governor Sandoval and NRS 236.073. The Week of Respect is a campaign to provide information and resources to students, staff and parents on bullying prevention. During the week, students will be taught the basics about bullying and what can be done if they experience it or see it happening. The Nevada Department of Education has developed a website that includes resources on bullying prevention found online at http://bullyfreezone.nv.gov. Another website with valuable information is http://stopbullying.gov. While this week is recognized by law, we strive to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment each day. The simplest way to prevent bullying is to be kind, which is why we’ll kick off the Week of Respect wearing our Be Kind shirts. If you have any questions or concerns related to bullying, please speak to your teacher, the school counselor, or an administrator.
